The New Government of the DR Congo

After extensive reflection and planning following the appointment of Judith SUMINWA as Prime Minister on April 1, 2024, the composition of the new government was announced this Wednesday, May 29, on the Congolese National Radio and Television (RTNC)[1].
This government, beginning the second term of President Félix TSHISEKEDI, is composed of 53 members, a reduction from the 57 members of the previous government of SAMA LUKONDE II. Among the members of the SUMINWA team, 30 are new ministers, 15 former ones have been retained, and 9 reassigned to other ministries. It includes six Deputy Prime Ministers, nine State Ministers, 24 Ministers, four Delegate Ministers, and 10 Deputy Ministers.

The signing of the ordinance by President FELIX TSHISEKEDI, following extensive consultations conducted by Prime Minister JUDITH SUMINWA with the majority political forces, as well as those carried out by Informant AUGUSTIN KABUYA, marks a decisive turning point for the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The rapid formation of the SUMINWA government, only four days after the installation of the permanent office of the National Assembly, demonstrates the leaders' determination to strengthen the country's democratic institutions. This process, in accordance with the Constitution, offers a promising and stable future perspective for the Congolese people, based on a renewed commitment to political collaboration and effective governance[2].
